Join the Sustainable Food Festival at Mejirodai to Connect People and Time

Experience Sustainability at the Mejirodai Future Living Festival

On April 19, 2025, the Mejirodai Future Living Festival, themed "Connecting People and Time," will take place at the old Secom Mejirodai building, which has served as a cornerstone for safety and trust for three decades. This event, hosted by Nittetsu Kowa Real Estate Co., Ltd., will feature the Sustainable Food Museum in partnership with Sustainable Food Asia (SFA). As the building is set to be demolished, this festival aims to connect the community to its past and envision a sustainable future through various activities.

The festival will include a marketplace known as "Musubi-no-ichi," where SFA will showcase sustainable food options, such as onion flakes made from onion byproducts called "Tamanegi Gururiko" and protein-rich soybean flakes called "Soycle." This unique booth will offer attendees new experiences and values in sustainable nutrition, allowing them to engage directly with innovative food products.

"Mejirodai Future Living Festival" aims to reflect on memories associated with the building and the community, while inspiring visions for future living. Highlighted activities will include a live painting event that engages artists and participants alike, rooftop tours for immersive experiences, and booths showcasing innovative ideas around "future living."

The partnership between SFA and Nittetsu Kowa Real Estate was established last year with the opening of the Sustainable Food Lab in Nishishinbashi, enabling collaborative efforts toward sustainable community operations and eco-friendly apartment management. SFA hopes to leverage this event to promote awareness and provide a platform for sustainable food experiences.

In addition to the sustainable food products available at the festival, visitors can look forward to exploring various other interactive experiences:
  • - Live street performances featuring street electone players,
  • - Craft workshops using thinned wood,
  • - AED experience demonstrations,_
  • - Rooftop tours, and food trucks offering delicious options,
all designed to create a festive atmosphere.

The Sustainable Food Museum aims to highlight six critical themes in sustainable food: preserving biodiversity, conserving resources, improving nutrition, preventing illness, ensuring fair labor practices, and promoting food diversity. During the festival, attendees will find numerous products that align with these values, sourced from diverse local businesses and start-ups eager to reshape the narrative around food.

Furthermore, SFA is dedicated to ongoing collaboration with various organizations to maintain sustainability in food-related initiatives. They also play a significant role in the Sustainable Food Night and Sustainable Food Showcase events, facilitating connections among food entrepreneurs and bringing innovative food products to the forefront.
