Engaging High School Students in Local Government Through Discussion Events

On November 1, the Machida City Council is set to host the "9th Opinion Exchange Meeting Between High School Students and City Council Members". This initiative, crucial for promoting civic engagement among youth, is designed to empower high school students by providing them with a platform to directly converse with elected officials.

The objective of the event is to encourage students to take an interest in governance and public affairs from an early age. By discussing various topics related to their community, students are expected to form actionable insights that could influence their perception as future citizens. Last year's event, the eighth edition, saw around 50 students participating and received glowing feedback from attendees.
