Expanding Last-Mile Delivery Network in Tokyo and Yokohama
Introduction
The Last-Mile Cooperative, led by Chairman Naosumi Shimura and headquartered in Fuchu, Tokyo, is set to enhance its delivery network in the capital region by opening several new centers from 2026. With the growing demand for efficient delivery services, these initiatives aim to streamline logistics for businesses and customers alike.
New Centers Announced
In July 2026, the Last-Mile Cooperative plans to inaugurate the Kasai Center in Edogawa, Tokyo, which will kickstart delivery services to the Tokyo 23rd Ward coastal region and extend the delivery network to Urayasu and Ichikawa in Chiba Prefecture. This area is recognized for its increasing logistics demands, particularly in e-commerce, thus the new center is designed to create a stable and efficient delivery framework.
In August 2026, a new facility will open in Yokohama called the Daikoku Center. This development will initiate delivery services in both Yokohama and Kawasaki, further enhancing the logistics network in Kanagawa Prefecture. The Last-Mile Cooperative is committed to responding flexibly to local logistics demands while ensuring high-quality delivery standards.
Future Expansions
Looking ahead, the cooperative plans to establish the Itabashi Center on October 1, 2026. This new location will reinforce delivery operations in Western and Northern Tokyo, connecting existing facilities and enhancing operational efficiency.
Additionally, in November 2026, the Adachi Center will open its doors. This center aims to expand the delivery network in Northeastern Tokyo while integrating operations with the Kasai and Itabashi centers. The cooperative’s objective is to provide an even more granular delivery service aligned with customer needs, including appointment-based time deliveries.
Strengthening the Delivery Network
The strategic opening of these four centers represents a significant commitment from the Last-Mile Cooperative to fortify its delivery network across the Greater Tokyo Area. By ensuring that these centers work synergistically, the cooperative seeks to improve overall delivery efficiency, maintain stable services, and elevate quality standards.
The organization is focused on addressing the diverse logistics needs that arise from the expanding e-commerce market. It aims to create a user-friendly and resilient logistics infrastructure for local businesses, solidifying its role as a key player in the regional supply chain landscape.
