On July 14, 2025, Luup Inc., under the leadership of CEO Daiki Okai, officially began its electric micro-mobility sharing service named "LUUP" in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. This initiative introduces around 70 designated ports within the city for users to rent and dock electric scooters and electric assist bicycles, starting with a fleet of 200 vehicles.

To celebrate the launch, LUUP partnered with Tokio Marine Holdings to organize a safety awareness event at Kawasaki Spark, aimed at educating the public about the proper usage of electric scooters and bicycles.

Background of LUUP

Luup's mission is to create infrastructure that transforms every street into a station-like experience. By offering diverse electric micro-mobility options, including scooters and e-bikes, Luup aims to establish an efficient transportation solution for the first and last mile. Their vision is to facilitate a society where everyone can travel freely and comfortably.

Since launching its services in Tokyo in May 2020, Luup has expanded its operations to include cities like Osaka, Kyoto, Yokohama, Utsunomiya, Kobe, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Sendai, Fukuoka, Kitakyushu, Hamamatsu, Okazaki, and Okinawa, totaling over 14,400 ports nationwide. The compact design of the vehicles allows for easy installation in small spaces.
