Sewa International Launches Relief Fund for Texas Flood Victims
In the wake of catastrophic flash floods that ravaged Texas Hill Country, Sewa International has taken decisive action by launching an emergency fundraising campaign. These devastating floods have tragically led to the loss of over 110 lives and left more than 160 individuals, including children, unaccounted for. The organization is focusing on providing support to displaced families who are in dire need of essentials such as food, water, hygiene products, and medical assistance. Furthermore, the funds will contribute to ongoing recovery initiatives and long-term rebuilding efforts.
Volunteers from the Texas chapters of Sewa International, situated in Austin and San Antonio, are already on the ground delivering critical aid to families impacted by this unprecedented disaster. They are collaborating with local authorities to facilitate logistics, assess damage, and participate in cleanup efforts.
Dr. Hetal Nayak, President of the San Antonio chapter, expressed his deep concern for the families suffering due to the floods: "Our hearts go out to every family mourning a loved one or facing the destruction of their home. The scale of the damage is immense, and it will take weeks, if not months, for these communities to recover."
Sewa International boasts a robust history of disaster response in Texas, having provided aid during every major crisis in the state over the past two decades. Drawing from this experience, local chapters are well-equipped to render immediate assistance and begin the process of long-term recovery.
Swadesh Katoch, Vice President of Disaster Recovery at Sewa International, emphasized the daunting task ahead: "The journey to rebuild lives and communities will be long and difficult. We are committed to partnering with local authorities, government agencies, and nonprofits to maximize our outreach and assistance. We urge everyone to support this cause—every contribution, regardless of size, can help someone start to rebuild their life."
Recognized for its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and effective disaster response, Sewa International remains deeply rooted in the community. The Texas chapters continue to uphold their promise to support their neighbors during this ongoing crisis.
