Jobcan Unveils Reference Check Feature for Streamlined Hiring
In a response to the evolving landscape of recruitment, Donuts Inc., a Tokyo-based company, has officially introduced the reference check feature within its cloud-based recruitment management system, Jobcan, as of February 24, 2026. This new tool aims to refine the hiring process by facilitating a smooth transition from requesting to collecting and managing reference checks.
Addressing Hiring Challenges
Today's hiring environment emphasizes the importance of finding candidates who not only meet skill and experience requirements but also fit into the company's culture and team dynamics. Traditional selection methods such as resume reviews and interviews often fall short in providing a complete picture of a candidate's character, previous performance, and adaptability to the organization. Acknowledging these challenges, the demand for objective evaluations from a candidate's past supervisors or colleagues has surged.
Reference checks serve as a valuable tool for predicting a new hire’s on-the-job performance and improving retention rates. However, the cumbersome process associated with initiating, gathering, and managing these checks can deter recruiters from utilizing them effectively. Jobcan’s newly introduced feature is designed to alleviate these challenges, allowing for cost-effective and efficient reference checking directly within the system, thus enhancing operational efficiency while centralizing information management to mitigate hiring mismatches.
Features of the Reference Check Tool
1.
Creation of Reference Check Questionnaires
Users can customize reference check questionnaires by selecting the candidate and defining conditions for responders. Jobcan provides a variety of question templates that facilitate quick creation, with additional options for customization.
2.
Requesting Reference Checks
Recruiters can effortlessly send reference check requests to candidates registered in Jobcan.
3.
Tracking Progress
The management dashboard allows recruiters to monitor the status of reference check requests. Furthermore, automated reminder emails are sent three days before the deadline to candidates and responders who have yet to provide feedback.
4.
Reviewing Results
Once responses are collected, results are displayed in an integrated report. This automation ensures seamless synchronization with the candidate's profile within Jobcan, minimizing the risk of double management or transcription errors.
This reference check feature is available at a low cost of 1,500 yen (excluding tax) per check, facilitating a flexible use where organizations can utilize it only when necessary. It is important to note that this functionality is an add-on and requires a subscription to either Jobcan’s LITE or STANDARD plan. Interested parties can take advantage of a 30-day free trial that includes access to all features, although some functionalities may have usage limits.
