The Palsystem Kanagawa Cooperative, based in Yokohama's Kohoku Ward, officially opened the application period for the 27th Civic Activity Grant Program on July 20, accepting submissions until August 21. This initiative aims to financially support local organizations dedicated to creating vibrant communities led by citizens.

Total Grants of 4 Million Yen



The Civic Activity Grant Program is set to distribute a total of 4 million yen for the year, with each selected group eligible for up to 300,000 yen. Local volunteer groups, civic organizations, and NPOs active within Kanagawa Prefecture can apply, regardless of whether they are Palsystem users. Applications will be evaluated by a selection committee comprising Palsystem members and experts.

As Japan grapples with rising living costs, economic disparities continue to widen, leading to increased youth poverty and social isolation among the elderly. The Civic Activity Grant Program serves as a vital resource to ensure that local groups can sustain their activities and effectively tackle these increasingly complex societal challenges.

The program has been operational since 2000, utilizing surplus funds generated by Palsystem Kanagawa. To date, it has granted a cumulative total of 101,916,500 yen to 494 organizations.

  • - Support Contributions: Selected organizations can receive 'support contributions' directly from Palsystem members who wish to show their support.

Eligibility Criteria



Interested applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a volunteer group, civic organization, or NPO operating primarily in Kanagawa Prefecture.
2. Have a physical presence within the prefecture.
3. Consist of at least three members actively involved in management (each organization may apply for funding up to two times).
4. Applications are open to non-members of Palsystem.
