Celebrate Autumn with BUSO BREWERY's New Release
As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, BUSO BREWERY is excited to announce the launch of its third limited-edition seasonal beer,
KOMOREBI – a delightful brew that embodies the essence of autumn. Set for release on
November 1st, this innovative beer features high-quality Hojicha from the renowned
Hijikata-en, a historic tea shop in Machida.
A Unique Brewing Collaboration
BUSO BREWERY is at the forefront of revitalizing the local culture and cuisine while leveraging the
Local 10,000 Project initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. This project aims to enhance local food culture and invigorate the community. Incorporating local ingredients, including hops and barley sourced from Machida, BUSO BREWERY strives to foster deep connections with local producers. The organization also aims to contribute to Machida’s specialty products and is linked to the city's hometown tax initiative.
In an effort to promote local businesses, a collaborative brewery initiative involving ten regional businesses has commenced, marking it as Japan’s first such project. The brewery will officially open its doors in
December 2024, located at the
Odakyu Machida Station East Square, which was formerly known as
Carillon Square.
The Art of Hojicha Beer
This new creation, KOMOREBI, utilizes an abundance of Hojicha from Hijikata-en, which has been delighting customers since its establishment in
1935. The collaboration involved multiple discussions to innovate a brewing process that captures the authentic aroma and taste of roasted tea leaves. With a rich and toasted profile, the beer is designed to evoke the tranquil atmosphere of autumn forest light, perfectly blending the malt's fragrance with the lingering bitterness of Hojicha.
Collaboration with Tamagawa University
Furthermore, BUSO BREWERY is collaborating with
Tamagawa University as part of the Local 10,000 Project. This partnership, integrated into the university's
Industrial Promotion Plan 19-28, encourages synergies between local business and academia. As a part of this collaboration,
17 third-year students from the
Art and Design Department have designed a unique label and poster for the seasonal beer. The fresh designs embody the four seasons of Machida and were selected through a rigorous presentation process. The winning design, created by
Ayuri Wakui, features a catchy seasonal depiction of a kingfisher associated with BUSO BREWERY's brand logo.
Limited Edition Bottles
In addition to the beer, limited-edition bottled KOMOREBI with the special Tamagawa University label will be available for purchase exclusively at the brewery starting early November, with quantities limited.
