Daimler Truck North America Implements Allison's FuelSense® 2.0 for Enhanced Fuel Efficiency
Daimler Truck North America Adopts Allison's FuelSense® 2.0 Neutral at Stop Technology
Allison Transmission has officially revealed that Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) will implement its innovative FuelSense® 2.0 Neutral at Stop technology across its Freightliner and Western Star truck models. This upgrade aligns with DTNA’s commitment to environmental sustainability and efficient fuel usage.
The FuelSense® 2.0 Neutral at Stop feature is designed to enhance vehicle performance by reducing fuel consumption and lowering emissions when vehicles are idling. Specifically, it minimizes the load on the engine while a truck is stationary, meaning that every drop of fuel is directed toward propulsion instead of wasted during idle moments. This technology will be standard on various models including the Freightliner M2 106 Plus, 108SD Plus, 114SD Plus, EconicSD, and Western Star 47X and 49X.
Mary Aufdemberg, the general manager of Daimler Truck North America, expressed enthusiasm about integrating Allison's technology into their trucks. She stated, "By offering Allison's Neutral at Stop technology in our trucks, we will support fleets in their efforts to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. This feature is particularly beneficial for customers whose operations involve frequent stop-and-start cycles."
The Neutral at Stop feature is an integral part of Allison's suite of FuelSense® 2.0 technologies. It precisely manages engine load, significantly cutting down on unnecessary fuel expenditure during periods of inactivity such as waiting in traffic or at red lights. The strategic design elevates overall fuel efficiency, ensuring that the engine operates optimally.
Rohan Barua, the Vice President of North America Sales at Allison Transmission, commented on the partnership with DTNA, stating, “Allison is committed to delivering solutions for fleets that improve fuel economy and reduce emissions without sacrificing performance.” This collaboration marks a significant milestone in striving for sustainable transportation solutions in the commercial vehicle sector.
The FuelSense® 2.0 technology suite employs advanced software and electronic controls, reportedly allowing quantifiable fuel savings of up to 6% while upholding the quality and reliability associated with Allison products. This efficiency is poised to have a meaningful impact as the transportation industry grapples with the dual challenges of operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.
