Medline Expands Its Distribution Centers to Over 1.6 Million Square Feet After Recent Fire Incident

Medline's Significant Expansion of Distribution Centers in Northern California

In a remarkable effort to rebound after a recent setback, Medline Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: MDLN) has successfully leased two substantial distribution centers in Northern California, securing over 1.6 million square feet of new warehouse space. This move comes in the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed a previous facility and showcases Medline's commitment to serving its healthcare partners more effectively than ever.

On July 6, 2026, Medline announced a lease agreement for a 925,000-square-foot warehouse located in Tracy, California, ready for immediate operations, as well as a 709,000-square-foot facility in nearby Stockton, expected to be operational by January 2027. Together, these centers not only compensate for a previous one million square-foot distribution site lost to fire on June 11 but also represent a remarkable 45% increase in Medline's customer-facing footprint in Northern California.

New Facilities Supporting Healthcare Needs

The newly acquired Tracy facility is strategically situated on Sugar Road, less than 10 miles from the earlier location. Designed to accommodate high-volume distribution, it is set to start receiving deliveries shortly. The facility is also expected to integrate advanced, AI-driven technologies already utilized in other Medline warehouses, enhancing operational efficiency significantly.

In Stockton, the upcoming facility will bolster Medline's distribution capability and customer servicing across the Northern California region. With both warehouses combined, the expansion aims to provide a robust supply chain solution to meet the needs of local healthcare providers and institutions.

Growth Trajectory of Medline

As the healthcare landscape evolves, Medline is poised for continuous growth. By mid-2027, the company projects its distribution center footprint across California to reach nearly five million square feet. This ambitious plan includes a new one million-square-foot center currently being built in Perris, further solidifying Medline’s position in the state’s healthcare supply ecosystem.

“The extraordinary resilience and commitment shown by the Medline team in the face of adversity underscore our dedication to improving healthcare operations,” stated Jim Boyle, CEO of Medline. “Over the past month, we have not only secured a new facility but also achieved a remarkable expansion, reflecting our ongoing commitment to enhance the operational capabilities of healthcare providers.”

Teamwork and Client Collaboration

Doug Golwas, Chief Commercial Officer at Medline, emphasized the importance of collaboration in this achievement. Medline has focused on maintaining continuity in service delivery to its clients during this difficult period. “We are immensely grateful for the teamwork from healthcare providers on the West Coast as we worked tirelessly to address their needs,” he remarked. The newly leased facilities are expected to streamline the delivery process for clients, ensuring that supplies reach them as efficiently as possible.

Johnny Glover, operating director for Medline's previous site in Tracy, will lead the new facility in Tracy. Glover expressed pride in his team's response and dedication under challenging circumstances, which will enable them to keep serving their healthcare customers effectively.
