Insights from a VIO Hair Removal Survey in Japan
A recent survey conducted by Men's Clara Clinic, an institution under the Medical Corporation Clara, targeted men who have undergone more than five medical hair removal treatments across Japan. The online survey, held from January 2024 to August 2025, gathered responses from 272 participants regarding their satisfaction levels with VIO hair removal, commonly referred to as 'hygiena'. Here, we present the findings.
Survey Methodology
The survey was conducted through a web-based questionnaire, ensuring a wide reach among eligible participants, all of whom had experience with VIO hair removal. The insights gained from this research provide us with a detailed look into the perceptions and feelings of those who opted for this type of grooming.
Key Findings
The survey revealed that a significant number of respondents expressed satisfaction with their decision, stating, 'I have no regrets about choosing hygiene hair removal.' However, a minority did report feeling some confusion regarding changes in their appearance and lifestyle post-treatment. In contrast, many highlighted improvements in comfort, cleanliness, and even enhancements in their relationships with partners as positive outcomes. Overall, it appears that the satisfaction level regarding VIO hair removal is quite high.
Positive Aspects of Hygiena
Respondents frequently noted the following advantages of undergoing VIO hair removal:
- - Increased Comfort: Many reported a noticeable reduction in discomfort during daily activities and menstrual cycles, alleviating issues such as chafing and sweating.
- - Enhanced Aesthetics: The absence of hair protruding from clothing (underwear and swimwear) provided a sense of security and improved appearance.
- - Reduced Skin Issues: Some found that they experienced fewer skin irritations and overall healthier skin post-treatment.
- - Better Partner Feedback: Positive reactions from partners were mentioned, with some respondents observing improved perceptions around cleanliness and attractiveness.
Common themes emerged, with a focus on 'hygiene improvement' and 'aesthetic security' cited as reasons for their satisfaction. Participants linked better visuals and tactile experiences to favorable impressions from their partners.
Regrets Surrounding Hygiena
While a hefty majority reported no major regrets, a few mentioned:
- - Concern About Public Perception: Some felt more conscious about others noticing their grooming choices.
- - Visibility of Skin Imperfections: Attention to dark spots or blemishes became more pronounced for a few participants.
- - Functional Challenges: A few expressed mild inconveniences related to bathroom use after the absence of hair in the area.
Despite these comments, the consensus remains that most participants felt 'no significant regrets'. The transition from having hair to being hairless provoked mixed feelings, and previously unconsidered aspects such as public scrutiny and skin tone variations came into play.
Detailed Analysis by Demographics
The survey showcased notable differencing in satisfaction and regret based on age. Younger respondents (in their 20s and 30s) seemed to focus more on interpersonal reactions, while those in their 40s and above valued practical benefits such as hygiene and comfort.
Age and Positive Feedback:
- - 20s: Emphasis on partner reactions.
- - 30s: Continued focus on partner feedback.
- - 40s: Valuing comfort, particularly during routine activities and menstrual phases.
- - 50s: Similar observations on comfort and hygiene.
- - 60+: Notions of reduced skin irritations and other dermatological benefits.
Age and Regret:
- - 20s: Predominantly report no regrets.
- - 30s: Similar levels of satisfaction with minimal regrets.
- - 40s: Remnants of concerns about skin appearance such as dark spots.
- - 50s and above: Growing awareness of public perception and body image.
Conclusion
The survey indicates that individuals in their 20s and 30s are more attuned to the changes affecting their social lives and relationships post-hygiena, while those above 40 tend to appreciate the tangible benefits related to hygiene, skin health, and overall comfort. Regrets are minimal among younger groups but increase with age as concerns about appearance and societal perceptions become more prominent.
