Aeromexico's Commitment to Safety: Adopting Honeywell's Runway Safety Technology

In a progressive move for aviation safety, Aeromexico has announced its intention to incorporate Honeywell Aerospace's latest runway safety technology, known as Surface Alerts (SURF-A). This ground-breaking system is targeted for deployment across the airline's fleet, which consists of more than 100 Boeing 737 NG and 737 MAX aircraft.

Enhancing Pilot Awareness and Safety

The SURF-A technology is designed to significantly enhance pilot situational awareness during crucial phases of flight, including taxi, takeoff, and landing. By providing both real-time audio and visual alerts, it aims to prevent runway collisions, a concern that continues to escalate as airport traffic increases worldwide. Using advanced software analytics, along with GPS data and automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) equipment, the system can detect potential collision trajectories and alert pilots approximately 15 to 30 seconds prior to an impending incident. Honeywell's SURF-A system will also complement the airline's existing safety products like the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS) and the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), already integrated into the Boeing 737 aircraft.
