BSV Association Welcomes Ásgeir Óskarsson as Managing Director

The BSV Association, a renowned name in the world of blockchain, has appointed Ásgeir Óskarsson as its new Managing Director (MD). This move is a strategic decision to enhance the organizational leadership and innovation within the blockchain space. Ásgeir brings to the table over ten years of extensive experience in project management, business analysis, and executive leadership, particularly in the financial services, insurance, and blockchain sectors.

Ásgeir's impressive career highlights his capability to spearhead the BSV Association towards new horizons. His academic achievements reflect a unique blend of engineering and education, which enriches his approach to technical challenges and collaborative solutions. Having held pivotal roles in esteemed organizations like UBS and CSS, he also nurtured various start-ups before honing his skills as Stewardship and Public Policy Director at the BSV Association.

During his tenure as Stewardship and Public Policy Director, Ásgeir was instrumental in advocating for the BSV protocol's advancement. His contributions aided in establishing essential standards ensuring internal organizational alignment and effectively representing public policy interests across the European Union. Such a background positions him aptly to oversee the broader goals of the BSV Association as he steps into his new role.

In his words, Ásgeir expressed privilege at being entrusted with the position of Managing Director. "Over the past year with BSVA, I have been engaged in various projects—ranging from stewardship and standards to education and developing the Teranode software. Last week, Ásgeir participated in the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he engaged in several discussions, addressing the urgent need for energy transition. He emphasized the potential of modern technologies, including blockchain, AI, and IoT, in enhancing scalability, efficiency, and conserving energy. His insights highlighted blockchain's pivotal role in promoting transparency and trust, crucial elements in the current digital transformation landscape.

In a parallel announcement, the Association revealed that Siggi Óskarsson would take on the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at BSVA. Siggi's vast experience of nearly three decades in software development, system architecture, and blockchain innovation underscores his potential to significantly influence the technological trajectory of BSV. Recently, he has played a critical role in the development of the Teranode software, laying a solid groundwork for BSV’s success in the future. As CTO, he will manage all technological aspects of BSV, overseeing Teranode and its related overlays and libraries.
