Promoting Connectivity: CCCC's Role in China-ASEAN Relations

On April 11, 2025, Kuala Lumpur hosted the China-ASEAN Media and Think Tank Forum, focusing on enhancing cooperation between China and ASEAN nations. During this event, Chen Zhong, the deputy general manager of the China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), delivered a keynote address emphasizing the company's commitment to cultural dialogue and regional integration.

Mr. Chen highlighted the geographical proximity and shared destiny of China and ASEAN member countries, stating that the forum serves as a vital platform for channeling resources and collaborative efforts toward regional development. Over the years, CCCC has tirelessly worked to foster a brighter future for all involved by leading large-scale infrastructure projects worldwide that enhance global connectivity.

In his remarks, Mr. Chen underscored CCCC's extensive experience in international infrastructure, where the company has engaged in projects across 158 countries and regions. In line with the Belt and Road Initiative, CCCC has significantly contributed to regional cooperation, actively participating in over 3,000 infrastructure projects in partner nations. This includes the construction of more than 13,000 kilometers of highways, 200 major bridges, and 150 key ports.

As a powerhouse of engineering expertise, CCCC not only boosts connectivity but also facilitates equitable access to global development opportunities. The forum aimed to unite around 260 participants from more than 160 organizations, including media agencies, think tanks, governmental bodies, and private enterprises from China and ASEAN.

Such initiatives have proven crucial in enhancing not just infrastructure, but also mutual understanding and intercultural relationships among the nations involved. Mr. Chen’s speech was a testament to the company's dedication to supporting sustainable global development.

The joint organization of the forum by the Xinhua News Agency and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) signifies a significant collaboration between China and ASEAN nations in the media landscape. As these countries progress towards deeper cooperation, forums like this are instrumental in establishing the necessary dialogue for successful partnerships. CCCC’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange through projects exemplifies the company's broader vision of connectivity that transcends geographical and cultural divides.

In conclusion, CCCC continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the relationship between China and ASEAN through initiatives that emphasize shared growth, understanding, and sustainable development. Events such as the China-ASEAN Media and Think Tank Forum are crucial for cultivating these connections and ensuring that mutual benefits are realized across all partner nations.
