Culture In Motion™: A Cultural Movement in the Mid-Atlantic
In a bold move to celebrate and elevate Black culture, Culture In Motion™, powered by Kwanza Jones's SUPERCHARGED®, has made its way to the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. This national platform, developed in partnership with The Apollo, aims to reach beyond traditional performance spaces and embed itself within community experiences across Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Launched by cultural architect Kwanza Jones, this innovative traveling arts and empowerment roadshow brings live performances and creative interactions inspired by Apollo’s rich artistic legacy directly to communities. The event series will roll through several key locations, including Virginia Beach, Hampton, Norfolk, Richmond, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., awakening community networks and broadening the doors of participation while amplifying diverse creative voices.
The Essence of Culture In Motion
The Mid-Atlantic, known for its unique cultural footprint within the U.S., is rich in history. The area has a strong tradition of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that serve as cultural beacons. From the birthplace of Go-Go music in Washington, D.C., to the academic ecosystems surrounding Hampton and Norfolk, cultural expression here is dynamic, evolving through generations.
