6th Meeting of Light Nexus at Okayama University
On January 23, 2026, Okayama University organized the 6th meeting of the 'Light Nexus' at the Tsushima campus in the Faculty of Pharmacy's large lecture hall. This initiative aims to connect researchers from various fields using light as a research tool, fostering the emergence of new research themes and their applications.
Inviting external experts, the meeting featured insightful lectures followed by engaging discussions. Approximately 50 participants joined from diverse backgrounds, including faculty members, students, University Research Administrators (URAs), industry-academia collaboration staff (CDs), and members from other research centers. The meeting commenced with an opening address from Associate Professor Hideki Okamura from the Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences.
Professor Mikako Ogawa from Hokkaido University delivered a compelling presentation titled, 'Molecular Imaging and Therapeutic Approaches Using Light and Radiation.' In her talk, Professor Ogawa shared recent breakthroughs in the field, detailing imaging agents and targeted therapeutics that utilize light and radiation. Following her lecture, a Q&A session provided an opportunity for lively discussion, with students actively participating and asking insightful questions.
The Light Nexus is designed to be an open platform for researchers eager to connect with different fields and embrace new challenges. As a collaboration hub, it aims to foster innovative exchanges and co-creation. This progressive research center encourages all researchers interested in integrating interdisciplinary approaches to participate in ongoing initiatives.
