Overview of the Lecture
Over the past two decades, global aquaculture production has tripled, while Japan's own output has seen a slight decline in recent years. Despite increasing global demand for seafood, production from traditional fishing methods has plateaued. This has led to heightened expectations for aquaculture, which offers a stable production method and a potential increase in demand for Japanese seafood exports.
In light of this, the Fisheries Agency has developed a comprehensive strategy to promote the growth of the aquaculture industry. The seminar will explore the various challenges, responses, and emerging trends related to this growth initiative.
