Artemira Group Launches LoopAL Aluminum Products for CO2 Reduction

In a significant step towards sustainability, Artemira Group has unveiled the sale of its innovative aluminum product, "LoopAL." This product, developed by its group company Sakai Aluminum Co., Ltd., aims to contribute to reduced CO2 emissions during production processes.

Sakai Aluminum boasts a unique, integrated production system that utilizes proprietary high-purity refining technology to create high-purity aluminum foil for aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Their commitment to quality has earned them a world-class market share in this sector. The manufacturing of this foil involves refining newly produced high-purity aluminum, which subsequently generates a certain volume of refining residue. Notably, this residue consists of 99% aluminum—rendering its CO2 emissions effectively zero.

This refined residue is now being repurposed as a raw material for LoopAL aluminum products, starting with pure aluminum boards commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing and building materials (specifically A1100P). The company plans to expand the LoopAL series to include other non-pure aluminum board products promptly.

By combining this refining residue with in-house recycled materials, which also exhibit zero CO2 emissions, the company can achieve a maximum blend of 75%. If purchasing scrap aluminum is included, the recycling materials could make up to 90% of the resulting product. In comparison to conventional aluminum board products made from new aluminum ingots, LoopAL achieves a remarkable 60% reduction in CO2 emissions.

Additionally, this product allows for CO2 emission reductions without relying on green aluminum ingots produced using renewable energy, demonstrating Artemira's commitment to environmental sustainability.

The calculation of the carbon footprint (CFP) of the LoopAL product has been conducted under the supervision of Asuene Co., Ltd., a climate tech enterprise specializing in visualizing CO2 emissions and supporting carbon offset initiatives, ensuring objectivity in the results.
