Geimaruza's Grand Return: A Celebration of Tradition and Innovation



The celebrated Japanese dance group Geimaruza is set to enchant audiences once again with its first main performance in nine years. Scheduled for September 6 and 7, 2025, this event will take place at the Yamawada Cultural Center in Shibuya, Tokyo. Geimaruza, composed of talented dancers who graduated from the Japanese dance department of the Tokyo University of the Arts, is known for its commitment to preserving traditional Japanese dance while also infusing it with contemporary entertainment elements.

This new performance promises to dazzle audiences with an array of breathtaking acts. The program features three main pieces:

1. The Classic: A beautiful rendition of the Edo-period classic, 'Shoshihi no Nezumi Kaimono'.
2. The Creative: A modern creation titled 'Umi to Sora' that showcases the intersection of traditional dance with innovative choreography.
3. The Fan Favorite: A revisited version of the audience's beloved piece, 'The Wizard of Oz', which has been reimagined to align with modern sensibilities, accompanied by improved direction and choreography.
