Supermicro Unveils New Arm-Based Platforms for AI Infrastructure
On April 29, 2026, Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI), a leader in total solutions for AI, enterprise, storage, and 5G/edge systems, announced the expansion of its Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS) portfolio. This new segment is focused on innovation by incorporating Arm-based platforms powered by the latest Arm AGI CPU, alongside new rack solutions compliant with the ORv3 specifications of the Open Compute Project (OCP).
The introduction of these cutting-edge systems positions Supermicro at the forefront of the industry, boasting over 20 OCP Inspired™ systems designed to integrate various OCP technologies and form factors, thereby simplifying open data center implementations. Charles Liang, President and CEO of Supermicro, stated, "Supermicro continues to expand its DCBBS with a broader portfolio of Arm-based and OCP systems for next-gen AI and HPC. With high-density liquid-cooled systems and energy-efficient Arm architectures, we enable scalable and flexible data centers that maximize performance per watt and accelerate AI adoption in cloud and enterprise environments."
DCBBS: A Modular AI Infrastructure
The DCBBS delivers a comprehensive, modular AI infrastructure built from validated components and subsystems. This enables end-to-end deployment flexibility, ranging from individual GPUs and network switches to fully integrated racks, site infrastructure, management software, and professional services.
As AI continues to evolve, so do the infrastructure requirements within data centers. Mohamed Awad, Executive Vice President of the Cloud AI Business Unit at Arm, commented on this shift, saying, "Arm AGI CPU-based platforms, built on Arm Neoverse technology, serve as the foundation for this new generation of computing. Our collaboration with Super Micro Computer, Inc. brings these capabilities to market through flexible, high-density systems optimized for modern AI and cloud environments."
Additionally, Supermicro's commitment to the OCP community enhances the open supply chain for AI infrastructure, as highlighted by Steve Helvie, Chief Emerging Ecosystem Officer at the OCP Foundation. Helvie commented, "Integrating energy-efficient Arm Neoverse platforms into Supermicro's ORv3 portfolio enables the OCP community to further expand the open supply chain for AI infrastructure. This partnership delivers the modular, liquid-cooled building blocks necessary to construct powerful and energy-efficient data centers at scale across the entire ecosystem."
Innovative Rack Configurations and New Systems
Supermicro's extensive OCP ORv3 portfolio includes new rack configurations and specially developed servers designed for seamless integration and high-performance workloads. Notably, a new 2U GPU system compatible with the 21-inch OCP ORv3 racks features dual Intel® Xeon® 6 6700 series processors with P-cores, an OCP-inspired 1400A busbar with power shelves, and support for DC-SCM. This system integrates the NVIDIA HGX™ B300 8-GPU platform with fifth-generation NVLink®, providing the compute density and bandwidth required for large-scale AI deployments.
Also available for ORv3 environments is Supermicro's FlexTwin™ system, a high-density platform featuring dual nodes, integrating two independent servers within a 1U chassis. This system supports the latest Intel processors and future CPU offerings from Intel and AMD, utilizing Supermicro's DLC-2 liquid cooling solution for CPUs, memory, and VRMs, allowing for the dissipation of up to 90% of the heat generated by the system.
In addition, Supermicro has introduced two new Arm-based systems powered by the recently announced Arm AGI CPU available in both 2U and 5U form factors, emphasizing high core density, expansive memory capacity, and flexible I/O options to facilitate energy-efficient, scalable agentic AI infrastructure.
