Collins Aerospace and All Nippon Airways Strengthen Contract Agreement for FlightSense™

Collins Aerospace and All Nippon Airways Renew Contracts

In a significant move within the aviation industry, Collins Aerospace, a business unit of RTX, has announced the renewal of its two pivotal agreements with All Nippon Airways (ANA) during a ceremony at the Singapore Air Show. This collaboration revolves around the FlightSense™ program, which aims to enhance operational efficiencies across ANA’s extensive fleet of aircraft, including Boeing 737NG/MAX, 767, 777, and 787, as well as the De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400.

Renewal Overview

The first renewal agreement is an extensive five-year contract that emphasizes on-site support under a cost-per-flight hour model. This agreement, which has been in place since 2001, guarantees component availability and aims to minimize downtime for ANA's operations. This structured, fixed-rate service model is designed to support their environmental, electrical, and engine control systems, ensuring that these critical components function optimally.

According to Ryan Hudson, Vice President of Aftermarket for Collins Aerospace’s Power and Controls unit, their innovative products and services are designed to empower customers like ANA, thereby maximizing fleet performance. The collaboration doesn’t only end with maintenance; it extends to asset management, logistics support, certified repairs, and forward-thinking predictive health monitoring. This comprehensive approach allows ANA to tailor its maintenance strategies, improving overall operational efficiency.

Strengthening Strategic Relationships

ANA expresses its satisfaction in renewing this longstanding partnership, which has significantly contributed to its maintenance capabilities, particularly from the Boeing 787 perspective. As highlighted by Yukifumi Ueda, Vice President and General Manager at ANA, this collaboration acts as a linchpin for their maintenance excellence, especially at ANA Component Technics based in Nagasaki. This newly affirmed relationship aims to elevate operational reliability while reinforcing safety standards for their passengers.

In addition to the FlightSense renewals, ANA has also signed a three-year extension for MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services, specifically focusing on the accessories of the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000-powered 787 Dreamliners. The scope of this enhancement encompasses critical components such as engine electronic controllers, fuel pump systems, and more. Iwao Takeshita, Vice President of Global Supplier Relations and Planning at ANA, commented on the transformative nature of these agreements that prioritize reliability and enhanced delivery performance.

Future Prospects

The FlightSense program is noteworthy for its capability to provide full lifecycle maintenance support that caters to the specific operational demands of airlines. By integrating advanced prognostics through the Ascentia® platform, this program synergizes safety protocols with operational excellence. Consequently, to further bolster operational capabilities, Collins Aerospace continues to innovate and adapt its offerings to meet the evolving needs of airlines like ANA.

Combining expertise with cutting-edge technology, Collins Aerospace is dedicated to working alongside ANA to navigate the complexities of the aviation sector. This renewed alliance alludes to a promising future, with both organizations poised to reach new operational milestones together.
