Mynd.ai's Promethean Launches AI Companion

In a significant advancement for educational technology, Mynd.ai, Inc. has unveiled its latest innovation through its subsidiary, Promethean. The new AI Companion, designed for the Explore Everything® app, aims to empower educators in crafting lesson content swiftly and effectively. This AI-driven tool leverages on-device artificial intelligence, provided users opt into Apple Intelligence™, allowing teachers to convert existing classroom materials into customized teaching resources within moments.

Features of the AI Companion

The AI Companion is compatible with Apple devices and offers a user-friendly interface that allows educators to engage directly with any element on an Explain Everything page. Whether it's text, images, or drawings, teachers can generate varied content effortlessly. From lesson plans and quizzes to vocabulary lists and suggested activities, content creation is now streamlined, diminishing the usual requirement to toggle between different platforms.

One of the standout capabilities of the AI Companion includes the generation of audio narrations, translation of text for non-English speakers, and the creation of accessibility descriptions. This not only fosters inclusivity in the classroom but also assists educators in meeting diverse student needs without the necessity for additional tools. All processes can be completed offline, ensuring that educators can utilize the AI Companion in various teaching environments without jeopardizing student privacy, as no data is sent to external servers.

Integration with Explain Everything

Explain Everything is applauded globally as an award-winning lesson creation and delivery software, with over 25 million downloads. Celebrated for its versatility, it combines content creation, recording, and collaboration into an infinite canvas. The introduction of the AI Companion supplements existing intelligent tools like Image Playground™, Isolate Subject, and Recognize Drawings, significantly enriching the creative possibilities educators have at their disposal.

Michael Strand, Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Promethean, remarked: "Explain Everything has always been about giving content creators the freedom to create and deliver materials in the way that works best for them. The AI Companion is a natural extension of that approach, bringing practical AI directly into the teaching workflow. By reducing the manual work involved in creating tailored and accessible content, it gives teachers more time to focus on adapting lessons and engaging learners."

This streamlined approach effectively supports teachers in crafting personalized content that aligns with their teaching strategies, ultimately enhancing the student learning experience.

Availability and Pricing

The AI Companion is now available to users of Explain Everything Advanced and Pro editions at no extra cost. Users can update the app from the Apple App Store to access the new features. Furthermore, the AI Companion is designed for devices running iPadOS 27 or iOS 27 and later versions, ensuring compatibility with the latest Apple technology.
