Krispy Kreme Japan Celebrates 20 Years of Joy with Exciting Anniversary Actions

Krispy Kreme Japan Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan Co., Ltd. (KKDJ), headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, will officially celebrate its 20th anniversary in Japan on December 15, 2026. To celebrate this milestone, the anniversary year kicks off on December 15, 2025, under the theme 'Let’s DOughnut!', delivering exciting moments and joy to both loyal customers and those yet to experience KKD delights.

Krispy Kreme was founded in 1937 in the United States, opening its first Japanese store in Shinjuku Southern Terrace on December 15, 2006. Known for maintaining its original recipe for nearly 90 years, the brand has adapted its offerings to suit Japanese tastes, developing exclusive doughs and introducing exciting collaboration products. The early implementation of delivery and cabinet sales in supermarkets have established Krispy Kreme as a brand that offers the 'best donut experience' that customers adore.

A Year Full of Joy

As it marks its 20th anniversary, Krispy Kreme aims to spread joy throughout the year with its 'To DOugh List'. This initiative encapsulates six key themes that KKDJ wishes to share with its customers, whether they are returning fans or new to the brand. These themes include:
  • - More delicious products
  • - Exciting new offerings
  • - Fun store environments
  • - Greater environmental consideration
  • - Strengthened brand connection
  • - Enhanced customer awareness

The celebration kicks off on December 15 with a nationwide 'Donut Drop' event, distributing 12,000 original glazed dozen boxes across five locations in Japan, including the original store in Shinjuku Southern Terrace. This surprise distribution event commemorates the journey of KKDJ over the past 20 years and allows fans to relive their favorite donuts through a special voting initiative.

Donut Drops and Fan Voting

On the kickoff date of December 15 (Monday), attendees at five locations will have the chance to receive a box of 12 Original Glazed® donuts. Each location will distribute 200 dozen donuts (totaling 2,400 donuts), making it a festive day of celebration. A mini press conference led by KKDJ President Takako Wakatsuki will also be held in Tokyo to share thoughts on the milestone and upcoming actions.

As part of the anniversary festivities, KKDJ is launching the Fan Voting 2026 initiative on December 15 at 10:00 AM, where fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite donuts from a selection of 50 popular creations from the past two decades, including classic and limited-time options. The top ten selected donuts will advance to a final voting stage via social media and in-store ballots, allowing fans to determine the five donuts that will be resurrected during the anniversary period.

Alongside the fan voting, an exclusive campaign on X (formerly Twitter) will involve lucky participants winning original merchandise by reposting the promotional materials with specific hashtags, allowing for even more community involvement.

Engaging Customers through Fun Initiatives

The voting process for fans is straightforward and can be done via special websites accessible through smartphones or PCs. Voters can contribute one vote per day throughout the designated period, ensuring everyone has a chance to express their preferences. Moreover, prizes will be awarded for accurate predictions during an exclusive campaign for app members, boosting the excitement as supporters engage with their beloved brand.

In light of the exceptional journey that Krispy Kreme has taken over the past 20 years in Japan, KKDJ is committed to creating more joyful moments while expanding its presence as a favorite donut brand.

With the theme 'Let’s DOughnut!', which represents a mix of doing and sharing delicious moments, Krispy Kreme is set to embark on another 20 years of happiness and connection with its customers.
