Next-Generation Xsens Link Launch in Japan
On January 14, 2026, HELTEC Co., Ltd. announced the domestic launch of the
Next-Generation Xsens Link, a major update to the high-end inertial motion capture system developed by Movella. After an 11-year hiatus since its last update in 2014, the system has been completely redesigned with new sensor suits and hardware that meet the demands of modern entertainment, sports science, and robotics.
Overview of the Product
The
Next-Generation Xsens Link, often referred to as the new Link, has undergone a comprehensive overhaul of its hardware architecture, significantly enhancing the user experience. With its innovative eSuit equipped with 17 sensors, users can capture motion freely without being constrained by studio settings. This system is designed to deliver precise motion data across various fields, including gaming, film production, and bio-mechanics research.
Key Features
1.
Revolutionary eSuit Design
The new eSuit integrates cable wiring within the fabric, providing comfort without tangles. Users can easily remove sensors to wash the entire suit in a washing machine using a specialized wash bag. The suit is crafted from 4D stretch material (4D Lycra) with an ergonomic design that enhances breathability and comfort.
2.
Significantly Reduced Setup Time
The setup process has been streamlined, allowing users to attach the 17 sensors with a single click. The time required for setup has been halved compared to previous models. The hub unit now includes speakers and LED signals, enabling immediate feedback on operation status.
3.
Extended Battery Life and Flexible Power Management
The external battery allows for 7–8 hours of use, while the internal battery offers 3–4 hours. Users can hot-swap external batteries without shutting down the system, ensuring continuous recording using an efficient USB-C PD charger.
4.
High-Speed, Low-Latency Data Acquisition
With a maximum update rate of 240Hz and a latency of just 20ms, the system minimizes noise through improved sensor fixation methods. On-body recording could store up to 50 hours of data, and when out of communication range, can buffer recordings for 10 minutes.
5.
Advanced Communication Technology
Equipped with Wi-Fi 6E, the system can operate in crowded environments using the less congested 6GHz band out to 150 meters. Wired connections are also supported through USB-C OTG Ethernet, ideal for applications requiring minimal delay, such as remote operation of robots.
6.
Seamless Integration into Production Environments
The Next-Generation Xsens Link supports direct streaming to software like Unreal Engine, Unity, MotionBuilder, and Maya, among many others. It also syncs with Manus gloves for finger tracking and facial capture.
