The 20th Western China International Fair Opens in Chengdu

On May 25, 2025, the 20th Western China International Fair (WCIF) was launched in Chengdu, Sichuan province, themed "Deepening Reform for Greater Momentum, Expanding Openness for Greater Growth." This remarkable event spans five days and has caught the attention of more than 3,000 companies from 62 different countries and regions, including representatives from 27 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across China.

This year's fair proudly welcomes Hungary and Laos as its inaugural guest countries of honor, alongside Zhejiang and Qinghai as the designated guest provinces. The United Arab Emirates stands out as a privileged partner in this festival of international business.

With 15 themed pavilions organized into three exhibition areas—Opening and Cooperation Area, New Industrial Momentum Area, and Wonderful Life Area—the fair showcases a total exhibition space of 200,000 square meters. Attendees can expect impressive displays of the latest scientific advancements and the most significant industries across participating nations.

Notably, among the exhibitors, 114 firms—accounting for 55.6%—belong to the prestigious Fortune Global 500 list that features the top global enterprises. This includes 61 enterprises listed in the Fortune Global 500, representing a staggering increase of 74.3% compared to the last event.

The WCIF is designed not only to promote business opportunities but also to facilitate various significant events throughout its duration. This includes the Opening Ceremony, the Promotion Fair for Investment in Western China, the Economic Cooperation Project Signing Ceremony, the Western China Sourcing International Conference, and a range of activities featuring the guest nations of honor.

Investment contracts for 416 cooperative projects have been signed to date, comprising both Chinese and foreign investors, amounting to a significant investment of 354.3 billion RMB. It’s anticipated that over 2,200 projects have been initiated with a collective investment surpassing 3.7 trillion RMB, showcasing the dynamic spirit of growth and cooperation.

As the fair unfolds, it serves as a platform to reinforce business relations and cultural exchange on an international scale, underlining Western China’s pivotal role in the global economy.
