Changes in Leadership at Husqvarna Group
Husqvarna Group has recently announced pivotal changes in its executive management team that signal a new era for the company. Brian Belanger, who has served as the company's General Counsel since 2015, will be departing from his role, and Sophie Jonsson is set to take the helm as his successor starting from May 31, 2025.
A Legacy of Service
Brian Belanger has had a remarkable tenure at Husqvarna, joining the company back in 2006. Over nearly two decades, he has been instrumental not just in the legal department but has also contributed significantly to the company's overarching strategy, operations, and corporate culture. Pavel Hajman, CEO of Husqvarna Group, stated, "I would like to sincerely thank Brian for his nearly two decades of service with the Husqvarna Group. His positive and lasting contributions will be much missed."
Belanger’s departure marks the end of an era, but also opens the door for fresh leadership. The decision comes as he seeks new opportunities outside of the company, a move he has decided upon after careful consideration.
Welcome, Sophie Jonsson
On the other hand, Husqvarna is excited to welcome Sophie Jonsson into this pivotal role. Having been part of the Husqvarna family since 2010, Sophie has a rich background that prepares her well for her new responsibilities. Most recently, she has been serving as the Divisional General Counsel for the Husqvarna Forest & Garden Division since 2018. Her extensive knowledge of the company, combined with her broad legal experience, has made her the ideal candidate for General Counsel.
"I am pleased to welcome Sophie as our new Group General Counsel. Her broad experience and proven track record make her the best choice for this role," Hajman shared in a statement, highlighting the confidence that the board has in Jonsson’s abilities.
Sophie will not only lead the legal department but will also join the Group Management team, reporting directly to the CEO. This strategic positioning signals Husqvarna’s commitment to integrating legal perspectives into its broader business strategy effectively.
Looking Ahead
As Husqvarna Group transitions into this new chapter, it also undertakes a broader strategic refresh geared towards innovation and leadership in the industry. Both Belanger and Jonsson have emphasized the importance of nurturing a collaborative corporate environment, and this leadership shift is expected to further enhance that
vision.
The upcoming management changes have placed the company in a preparatory mode, where robust strategies and operational changes can take place, ensuring that Husqvarna remains at the forefront of its sector. In doing so, the company aims to maintain its competitive edge while positioning itself strongly in the market.
