I-Grid and CPower Join Forces for On-Site PPA Initiatives

Partnership Announcement

I-Grid Solutions Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Minato, Tokyo; CEO: Tomokazu Akita) and CPower Inc. (formerly known as Daini Electric Co., Ltd., Headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo; CEO: Shoichiro Shiihara) have announced their collaboration in on-site Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) initiatives. Both companies have signed a basic agreement to join forces, aiming to maximize synergies in the renewable energy sector and accelerate efforts toward a sustainable society.

Background of the Collaboration

The climate crisis has become a pressing global issue, leading to alarming frequency of natural disasters in Japan. In response, the acceleration of renewable energy adoption has become a societal imperative. Through this strategic partnership, I-Grid and CPower aim to boost the environmentally friendly on-site PPA business, promoting the integration of renewable energy.

I-Grid stands out with its proprietary analytical technology-enabled AI platform, which utilizes surplus electricity effectively. In this collaboration, it will provide a financing scheme tailored for PPA projects, enabling rapid development of solar power PPA that maximizes roof utilization.

Meanwhile, CPower, building on its experience as a major solar power developer with around 2,200 facilities, has restructured under the Choshu Industries Group. This organization aims to operate as a leading PPA provider starting October 1, 2025, facilitating on-site and off-site solar power equipment development with an integrated approach comprising design, construction, and operations and maintenance (O&M).

The partnership between I-Grid, with a portfolio of 1,240 sites amounting to 305 MW in PPA development, and CPower’s 2,200 sites at 208 MW, looks to combine their strengths in order to create a new business model that fosters the spread of renewable energy and contributes to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.

Vision and Goals

By amalgamating their extensive experiences and expertise, both companies seek to produce scale advantages and added value unattainable individually. They set an ambitious target of developing over 10 MW annually, reaching a three-year goal of 30 MW, ultimately striving for more effective renewable energy outreach. They aim to drive corporate green transformation (GX) and establish a resilient energy infrastructure for future generations.
