Legal risks are unavoidable in the realm of business. Our research focused on companies currently utilizing legal counsel to highlight their sincere experiences concerning the motivation for hiring, selection criteria, and advantages realized post-contract.

Key Findings from the Survey

1. Initial Reasons for Considering Legal Counsel: The primary driver for hiring legal counsel was reactive—89 companies reported they were compelled by existing disputes or problems. However, a significant number of respondents also indicated preventive motivations. These included an increased need for contract checks and concerns stemming from business expansion, indicating a shift towards proactive legal prevention strategies rather than merely responding to problems.

2. Key Selection Criteria: When it came to choosing a legal counsel, timeliness of response emerged as a paramount factor. Over 121 companies identified this criterion as crucial, far outweighing the second most significant factor, specialization, which was noted by 96 companies. Furthermore, the ease of communication ranked as a vital factor, with 79 businesses valuing the ability to converse openly and comfortably with their legal partners.

3. Benefits Experienced After Hiring Legal Counsel: The most cited benefit was the swift handling of disputes, declared by 118 companies. Additionally, many remarked on the supportive environment provided for consultations—112 firms found this invaluable. Notably, 72 executives expressed a significant reduction in their mental burdens, reflecting the profound importance of having accessible legal expertise as a source of psychological support in making tough decisions.

The results of our survey illustrate that the modern enterprise seeks more than just legal knowledge from retained legal counsels. Today's companies desire legal partners who can provide risk mitigation proposals, responsive support, and a comfortable, accessible dialogue. Legal counsel is increasingly viewed not merely as advisors but as integral partners that facilitate and accelerate everyday business functions.
