Mile High Holidays: Experience the Magic of Denver This 2025 Season
As we approach the festive season of 2025, Denver prepares to unveil its beloved tradition — the Mile High Holidays. This year promises more holiday magic than ever before, engaging families and visitors with an array of festive activities that will light up the city. Among the highlights is the return of the Mile High Drone Spectacular — an awe-inspiring show that illuminates the Denver sky from November 21 through New Year’s Eve.
What's New This Year?
The Mile High Tree and the Denver Christkindlmarket will find their new home at the Tivoli Quad at Auraria Campus, ensuring visitors don't miss out on the holiday atmosphere while Civic Center Park undergoes construction.
Beginning on November 21, the Drone Spectacular spans 41 nights, featuring an impressive lineup of 600 drones soaring up to 500 feet high, painting the night sky with vibrant displays of holiday-themed animations and iconic Denver landscapes. Optimal viewing will be available at various downtown venues, including rooftop bars and public areas, ensuring everyone can partake in the magical experience.
The Iconic Mile High Tree
Standing at an impressive 110 feet, the Mile High Tree is presented by Xcel Energy and Xfinity. This monumental structure, adorned with 60,000 LED lights, delivers a nightly light show synchronized to multicultural holiday music from 5 to 10 PM. Guests can also enjoy an immersive viewing experience inside the tree itself, with accommodations for up to 140 individuals at once. The ceremonial tree lighting is set for November 21, marking the official start of the holiday festivities.
Annual Favorites and New Traditions
Denver never fails to dazzle with its spectacular light displays that have become cherished holiday traditions. The Blossoms of Light at Denver Botanic Gardens promises to transform the gardens into a glimmering paradise with a mile-long trail of radiant displays running from November 21 to January 12, showcasing the breathtaking plant collections across its grounds. Additionally, Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo will brighten up the wildlife sanctuary from November 23 to January 5, featuring a mesmerizing exhibition of over a million lights.
Cherry Creek North will host its own Winter Wanderland from November 20 to December 24, showcasing twinkling lights on over 600 trees and offering exciting community events, including a holiday market and engaging activities for all ages.
Special Holiday Markets
The kickoff to holiday shopping can be celebrated at the Denver Christkindlmarket running from November 21 to December 23. It’s the 25th anniversary of this market, known for its authentic German goodies, handmade crafts, and festive activities, now in its new festive location. The Cherry Creek Holiday Market and the Lemur and Friends Art Bazaar will also host an array of local artisans, providing the perfect opportunity to acquire unique gifts and holiday treasures.
Performing Arts Highlights
The holiday season would not be complete without the performing arts. The DCPA Theatre Company’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol captures the spirit of the season with its uplifting storytelling. Colorado Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker will delight families with new sets and costumes, while Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! invites audiences into the whimsical world of Whoville.
Family Fun and Holiday Events
There are also exciting experiences awaiting families this season. Camp Christmas at Stanley Marketplace offers an immersive experience blending art and holiday traditions, and for the little ones, the Children's Museum will transform into a snowy landscape for its Snow Days event from December 6 to February 16.
