Tribute Band Maiden United Unleashes Metal Cover of Adele's Skyfall

Maiden United's Bold New Release: A Metal Cover of Skyfall

Los Angeles is known for its thriving music scene, and one tribute band, Maiden United, is making waves with their latest release. They have put their unique metal spin on Adele's Skyfall, a theme song from the iconic James Bond film. This cover is featured in their new EP titled Agent 666, which promises to offer a fresh take on a well-loved classic.

Founded in 2021 amidst the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, Maiden United was born out of a desire to rekindle the joys of live music. In just a few years, they have cemented their status as the premier Iron Maiden tribute band on the West Coast. They bring more than three hours of music to their repertoire, delighting fans with faithful renditions of iconic songs like The Trooper and Run to the Hills.

The mastermind behind the Skyfall cover is Danny Knapp, the band's bassist, who took charge of the production. In a recent interview, Maiden United founder Rich Abronson explained that the idea to reinterpret Skyfall stemmed from a brainstorming session focused on what could set them apart from other tribute bands. The team revels in the creativity of transforming hit pop songs into metal anthems, and this endeavor was no exception.

"Skyfall contains all the essential elements for a heavy metal arrangement — drama, complexity, and interesting musical transitions," Knapp elaborated. The impetus for selecting Skyfall lies in their aspiration to maintain a UK pop culture theme, intertwining Iron Maiden’s legacy as legendary British metal icons with Adele's status as a modern voice in British music, and James Bond's historical significance as a quintessential British character.

The EP Agent 666 features not only the cover of Skyfall but also includes a duet of Iron Maiden's Murders in The Rue Morgue with Jen Taylor Warren, the original founding vocalist of the all-female tribute group The Iron Maidens. Furthermore, fans will enjoy live recordings from Maiden United's performances, enhancing the live music experience encapsulated in the studio release.

Fronting the band is Paul Duncan, whose vocal style is reminiscent of all three of Iron Maiden’s legendary singers: Paul Di'Anno, Bruce Dickinson, and Blaze Bayley. Alongside Duncan are guitarists Rich Abronson and Scott Ramsay, the aforementioned Danny Knapp on bass, and Adrian Aguilar on drums, creating a formidable line-up that brings the essence of Iron Maiden to life.

The band has made Agent 666 available on major music streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, with a dedicated music video for the Skyfall cover on YouTube. They encourage fans to connect with them through their social media pages on Facebook and Instagram (@MaidenUnitedBand) and check out more on their official website.

In a world where nostalgia often meets innovation, Maiden United stands out by bridging the enduring legacy of Iron Maiden with modern musical trends, proving that metal indeed rules the scene. As fans await future releases, it's clear that Maiden United is a name to watch in the tribute band arena, bringing a refreshing and heavy metal approach to beloved tunes like Skyfall.
