NCTC Welcomes Rob Koester as Chief Operating Officer



The National Content and Technology Cooperative (NCTC) has Announced the appointment of Rob Koester as Chief Operating Officer, effective September 8, 2025. With a wealth of experience spanning over 25 years in the telecommunications and broadband sector, Koester's leadership is expected to significantly bolster NCTC's mission. His extensive background includes a successful track record of driving operational excellence, fostering strategic growth, and implementing transformative fiber initiatives.

A Visionary Leader



In his role as COO, Koester will be entrusted with overseeing essential operations of NCTC. He will spearhead core business lines and critical initiatives in Mobile, Broadband, Video, and Procurement Solutions. Koester's aspirations are closely tied to enhancing the competitive edge of NCTC's nearly 700 broadband member companies across the United States. His approach will heavily rely on strategic alignment, robust partnerships, and a member-first attitude, aiming to deliver innovative solutions designed to help the members thrive in an increasingly competitive broadband landscape.

Lou Borrelli, CEO of NCTC, expressed enthusiasm about Koester joining the leadership team. Borrelli noted that Koester’s visionary outlook and deep understanding of the broadband industry come at a crucial juncture for NCTC, which aims to adapt and to innovate in an ever-evolving sphere. Koester's experiences, both at large and small NCTC member firms, will prove invaluable as he steps into this pivotal role.

A Proven Background in Broadband



Before joining NCTC, Koester held the position of Senior Vice President of Business Development and Product Management at Consolidated Communications, a key NCTC member company. During his tenure, he successfully led the nationwide rollout of the Fidium Fiber brand to over 1.5 million customer locations, showcasing his commitment to rural broadband and understanding of the challenges faced by NCTC members. He has been actively involved in initiatives that align closely with the outreach goals of NCTC.

Recognized as a Broadband Hero in 2019 by the United States Telecom Association, Koester is respected for his ability to merge technical prowess with regulatory and community needs. This blend of skills helps him craft effective solutions that cater to the demands of a diverse broadband landscape. Koester's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Marketing, and he has held significant roles in product management, operations, and strategy throughout his career.

Upcoming Changes in Leadership



Koester will succeed Lisa Hood, who has been serving NCTC as COO and will continue in her capacity as CFO. Furthermore, NCTC has announced a promotion for Brian Jones, a long-standing team member, who will transition to Senior Vice President of Finance Operations. In this newly appointed position, Jones will oversee the organization’s financial and operational endeavors, stepping up after over three decades of service.
