Celebrating Five Years of Hagihara Manufacturing with a Pop-Up Event at Tokyo Station

Hagihara Manufacturing, a renowned name in interior design with a rich history of 134 years, is set to commemorate its five-year anniversary of its direct online shop, "Hagihara Seizosho," by hosting a special pop-up event from July 3rd to July 5th, 2026, at Grandsta Yaesu B1F, directly outside the Starbucks in Tokyo Station. The theme of this event is "Living with Igusa (rush grass)."

The pop-up will only showcase popular igusa products that are typically available online, making it a unique chance for visitors to experience the tactile comfort of igusa products up close. Attendees will have the opportunity to touch, sit upon, and relax with various igusa items, immersing themselves in the soothing qualities of this natural material.

4. Visitor Incentives

> Please note that special gifts will be available while supplies last.

The Importance of Preserving Igusa Culture

The event aims to bring awareness to a significant issue: the decline in the number of igusa farmers in Japan. Over the past decade, the number has decreased to less than half, exacerbated by the increasing Westernization of homes and rising material costs. The organizers believe it is crucial to keep igusa culture alive and spread its beauty and benefits. This event serves not only as a celebration but as a bridge connecting traditional igusa interior decor with contemporary living.

Through this event, the organizers hope to make igusa accessible even to those without traditional tatami rooms, allowing everyone to appreciate its charm and cultural heritage.
