The 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) recently held two promotional roadshows in Hong Kong and Macao on July 8 and 9, serving as a prelude to the main event taking place in Xiamen this September.

These two-day events attracted a wide array of attendees, including senior government officials, prominent business leaders, representatives from financial institutions, as well as members of foreign chambers of commerce and media outlets based in these special administrative regions. The roadshows aimed to encourage local business communities in Hong Kong and Macao to engage in the upcoming investment fair while reaffirming China's dedication to fostering high-level openness and promoting mutual investment.

Scheduled from September 8 to 11 in Xiamen, this year’s CIFIT is set to be the most expansive yet, featuring a record exhibition space of 200,000 square meters, marking its largest physical footprint in the history of the event. Under the 'Invest in China' initiative, the fair is anticipated to draw significant international interest, with exhibitors and participants from nearly 50 countries and regions including Germany, Italy, Brazil, Portugal, the UAE, and South Korea.

This year’s CIFIT not only serves as a showcase for investment opportunities but also includes substantial participation from prestigious global institutions. Notable organizations such as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) will be involved in shaping the discourse at CIFIT. UNCTAD is set to organize the second Future Investment Conference under the theme “Global Investment for a Changing World” during the fair. This session will aim to create collaborations among sovereign wealth funds and investment associations, focusing primarily on strategic and emerging industries.

Furthermore, UNIDO will host its dedicated forum during CIFIT, adding an essential dimension to the discussions on investment and development.
