PenFed Foundation Expands Veteran Entrepreneur Program to San Antonio
The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes announced an exciting expansion of its Veteran Entrepreneur Program, which will take place in San Antonio, Texas, in 2026. This initiative aims to support veterans and military spouses as they navigate the business world. Announced during the San Antonio StartUp Week on October 17, 2025, this program is designed to equip participants with the tools they need to succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures.
Program Highlights
Set for the week of September 14-18, 2026, the accelerator program offers four days of comprehensive in-person training and networking opportunities. Veterans and military spouses will engage with mentors, gain valuable insight into media training, and connect with crucial resources to help them scale their businesses. Terry Williams, Program Director for the PenFed Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, noting that San Antonio is home to one of the largest veteran populations in the country.
Continuing the Mission
Since its establishment in 2001, the PenFed Foundation has been dedicated to aiding veterans in transitioning to civilian life. The Veteran Entrepreneur Program specifically launched in 2018 and has supported over 120 veteran and military spouse entrepreneurs. Previous cohorts took place in Bentonville, Arkansas, and Tysons, Virginia, and the foundation covers all expenses related to the program without taking equity in participating companies.
Growing a Vibrant Community
San Antonio is known for its vibrant culture and strong community of veterans. The decision to expand the program here is aligned with the foundation's mission to support local heroes in their business pursuits. The upcoming program will also foster a sense of community among participants, allowing them to share experiences, resources, and advice.
Financial Support and Resources
The PenFed Foundation has generously provided over $55 million in financial support to veterans, active-duty service members, and military families. This funding helps cover administrative costs, allowing donations to directly empower individuals through programs like the Veteran Entrepreneur Program. By supporting veterans in their entrepreneurial endeavors, the foundation seeks to create a ripple effect, helping not only the entrepreneurs but their families and communities as well.
