March 14 caused a stir, as
1,000 limited edition packs sold out within a single day through their official online store, garnering a top-five ranking in curry sales in physical stores as well. Customers praised the new offerings, sharing feedback like, “The large pieces were satisfying to eat” and “I was amazed at the quality for a retort pouch.”
The Journey to Soup Curry Development
While NISHIKIYA KITCHEN has long specialized in ready-to-eat foods, soup curry had never been part of its repertoire. However, after successfully testing a seasonal product—an autumn curry that was reformulated from a keema curry to soup curry—the outcry for more soup curry led to the company’s decision to fully dive into this niche.
In preparation for these releases, the NISHIKIYA KITCHEN team traveled to Hokkaido in 2024, the birthplace of soup curry, to explore its unique flavors and ingredients. Over two days, they tasted 14 varieties from seven different establishments, laying the groundwork for their own unique products.
