Celebrating the Winners of the Dog Letter Contest

The Dog Happiness Executive Committee recently celebrated the winners of the Dog Letter Contest, an event where pet owners expressed their love for their furry companions through heartfelt letters. Four winners were awarded this year, and we’re thrilled to share their comments and the joy they felt upon receiving their awards. Additionally, we are excited to announce that the third edition of the contest will kick off in late November!

Silver Award Winner: The Unique ‘My Pet Plush Toy’

The silver award was presented to a lucky winner along with a shopping coupon worth 50,000 yen for use on the POCHI website. The recipient of this award was a Labrador Retriever mix named Lucky, who is eight years old.

Winner's Comment: Nanako from Shizuoka Prefecture (Pen Name)

When I learned about my win, I was thrilled! Moving to Tokyo for university left me thinking of how I could leave a memory with my beloved dog, so this recognition meant the world to me. Expressing my feelings in writing was a unique opportunity, and I am glad that I participated!

Now that the letter is complete, I want to convey to Lucky: "How are you doing? I’ve heard from Mom that you are watching people come out from the station during our evening walks. Do you feel lonely? I’ll bring back lots of goodies during winter break, so please wait for me patiently!"

It was so touching to read the letters from other winners, which were all incredibly heartfelt. I had many tears as I felt the love they hold for their own pets. This contest is truly wonderful, and I am grateful for the opportunity to participate!

Bronze Award: One-of-a-Kind ‘My Pet Cushion’

Two winners received a unique pet cushion along with a shopping coupon worth 30,000 yen for use on the POCHI website.

Winner's Comment: Kumi from Tokyo (Pen Name)

I was out walking with Kin when I received the email about the award. I jumped up and down, shouting, "Yay!!" I immediately shared the news with my husband, who was equally thrilled. I felt so happy that I also shared the news with my parents and my in-laws. Their reaction was overwhelming; my mother-in-law shared that my father was so moved he almost cried! I just felt so blessed, thinking, “It’s all thanks to Kin and my husband!” This reinforced how much I love dogs!

Now that the letter is done, I want to tell Kin: "Thank you! You’re always too cute! I love you! You are a valuable family member!" I am so happy to have you in my life. I feel compelled to express this.

I appreciated all the stories from other winners! Thank you for this incredible opportunity. The email communications post-award were very kind and made me feel wonderful. I look forward to writing again next year! The cushion and coupon were delightful and genuinely made my day!

Another Bronze Winner: Ran, an 8-Year-Old Yorkshire Terrier

Winner's Comment: Uchuichi from Hyogo Prefecture (Pen Name)

I couldn’t believe it at first! I was so surprised to receive the award for a love letter to Ran! The kindness shown by the team while accommodating my late response made me realize that participating was worth it. Thank you!

I want to express my love for Ran: "I love you so much! You are the reason I found hope and even the motivation to pursue a career related to dogs. Life has transformed so much because of you! I believe that all our supporters are cheering for you, and we’ll keep living happily together!"

I had so much fun! Thank you for recognizing my work, which made me feel grateful and appreciated. I can’t wait for the next contest!

Special Award: Unique ‘My Pet Cushion’

The Dog Happiness Executive Committee awarded a special cushion to the winner, Chachamaru, a four-year-old mixed breed dog (Chinese Crested and Toy Poodle).

Winner's Comment: Chakun's Biggest Fan from Aichi Prefecture (Pen Name)

I was shocked and excited to learn I won the special award! I immediately rushed to give Chachamaru a hug and said, "We did it, Chachamaru! Thank you so much!" This recognition transformed all my struggles into joy and gratitude.

Now, I want Chachamaru to know how much he means to me. Throughout my school and university years, he has been my support, helping me open up and heal during tough times. I want him to feel just as happy as I do each day.

Thank you for the wonderful special award! I am grateful for the chance I took to write about Chachamaru. I hope you continue initiatives like this since each dog owner has beautiful stories to share. Our family loved the cushion and keychain, and we are thrilled! Thank you to the organizers and staff for everything!
