Exclusive Ramen Collaboration in Osaka
A unique collaboration has emerged between House Foods Corporation and the Kinki University venture, Yaruka Yaranka. Starting from November 4 until December 27, 2025, they will be offering a special ramen dish featuring House Foods' original product, Deep Steamed Basil, at the Shinsaibashi location of their restaurant, Suseruka, Susuran.
The Flavor of Deep Steamed Basil
House Foods has developed the Deep Steamed Basil through an innovative process that captures the essence of the herb. Utilizing their patented steaming method (Patent No. 7616828), they steam, knead, and dry the basil to enhance its natural flavors while preserving its vibrant color. This creates a rich and aromatic dry basil that elevates any dish it graces.
The signature dish at Suseruka, Susuran is the homemade Mapo Tofu Ramen. By combining this staple with the Deep Steamed Basil and topping it with a rich cream cheese, they have crafted a uniquely delectable bowl that is set to wow ramen enthusiasts.
Meet the Faces Behind the Venture
Yaruka Yaranka is steered by president Nishi Natsuki, a current graduate student from Kinki University. The company was founded in October 2020 in Naramachi, specializing in Mapo Tofu Ramen. The pandemic prompted Natsuki and his friend, Okuno Ryotaro, to leverage their culinary skills to create a new concept during a time of uncertainty. They successfully launched their first restaurant and grew rapidly, opening a second store in Shinsaibashi in March 2024, expanding their vision further through the Kinki University entrepreneurial support program, KINCUBA.
The collaboration aims to enrich the dining experience by introducing limited-time offerings, which resonates well with both students and the general public. The Deep Steamed Basil's fragrant qualities are intended to complement the spicy flavor profile of Mapo Tofu, making for a memorable ramen experience.
Future Innovations with Deep Steamed Basil
In addition to the ramen, House Foods has plans to introduce new products featuring Deep Steamed Basil, including pasta sauces and spice forms, catering to a wide array of culinary uses. These products will not only appeal to restaurant settings but also offer convenience for home cooks.
With innovative ideas and a dedication to quality ingredients, both House Foods and Yaruka Yaranka are set to make a significant impact on the culinary landscape of Osaka. The collaboration is not just about food; it signifies the dynamism of young entrepreneurs and established food companies working together to push culinary boundaries.
