Experience Authentic Spring Bonito Dishes at Hotel Seasons Nichinan

Nestled in the beautiful Nichinan City, renowned for its outstanding catches in coastal bonito fishing, Hotel Seasons Nichinan invites you to savor the flavors of spring through an exciting dining experience. Starting from March 21, 2023, the hotel, managed by Onko Chishin Co., Ltd., will introduce a special dinner menu featuring local bonito sashimi and other delicacies. This menu, which was previously exclusive to overnight guests, is now available to day visitors by reservation at the hotel's “Shokudo Ru-Nai” restaurant.

A Culinary Celebration in Nichinan City

Nichinan City boasts the highest catch of bonito in Japan, celebrated for its sustainable fishing practices that have been maintained since the Edo period. The fishing method of catching one bonito at a time with a fishing rod not only respects marine resources but also enhances the quality of the fish. From March to April, the first bonito arrives from the warm Black Current, rich in flavor and fat, making this the perfect season to enjoy it fresh as sashimi. Locals love it paired with freshly steamed rice, poured over with savory dashi or tea, a dish known as “katsuo-meshi,” encapsulating the essence of Nichinan’s spring flavors.

Dinner Menu Highlights

As part of the new menu available from March 21, guests will have the opportunity to experience seasonal local dishes, including:

1. Nichinan Kaiseki: A Delightful Combination

This course features freshly caught bonito sashimi, alongside the renowned “Hinata Beef” from Miyazaki Prefecture, served as diced steak. The Kaiseki meal showcases ingredients that reflect the local Nichinan region's essence.
