Summer Climbing Challenge with TEAM BEYOND

This summer, TEAM BEYOND, an initiative from Tokyo aimed at promoting para-sports, invites everyone to partake in an incredible workshop focused on the skill sets of para-athletes. This event is a fantastic opportunity to enhance interest and awareness of para-sports in a fun and engaging environment. The highlight of the workshop will be the chance to experience climbing, with an emphasis on the distinctive challenges faced by para-athletes.

Event Overview

The workshop will be held on August 1st, 2026, at the Livedoor Urban Sports Park in Tokyo. Participants can experience the thrill of climbing through specialized sessions, where they will learn techniques straight from elite para-athletes. The event will be divided into three sessions throughout the day:

• - Session 1: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (registration starts at 9:30 AM)
• - Session 2: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM (registration starts at 1:00 PM)
• - Session 3: 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM (registration starts at 4:00 PM)

Climbing Experience

Participants will learn tricks and tips on climbing techniques tailored specifically for both beginners and experienced climbers. Special challenges such as learning to climb without sight or using only one leg will add a unique twist to the experience. Completing these difficult tasks will without a doubt provide a sense of achievement and joy that is difficult to experience in everyday life. Everyone, regardless of ability, is encouraged to join, as long as they possess basic strength to climb a ladder.

Connection with Para-Athletes

An exciting aspect of this workshop is the chance to meet and interact with distinguished para-athletes. Participants will get a front-row seat to witness the incredible skills of athletes such as Shou Aita, a seven-time champion of the IFSC Para-Climbing World Championships, and Shuhei Yuuki, who has placed in major competitions, including the upcoming 2025 championships. There will be opportunities to engage in discussions and learn more about para-climbing's aspirations on a global stage, particularly as it will take the spotlight at the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.

Participation Details

The event can accommodate around 40 participants for each session, with a total of approximately 120 slots available. Registration opens on June 11, 2026, and closes on July 5, 2026. Due to potential high demand, participants will be selected through a lottery if applications exceed capacity. Families and groups up to four can register together, making this not just an individual event but a perfect opportunity for bonding through sports. There is no cost to participate, and complimentary climbing shoes will be available for use.
