TeachTown Teams Up with Tulsa Public Schools to Enhance Special Education Services

A Transformative Partnership: TeachTown and Tulsa Public Schools

WOBURN, Mass. — TeachTown, a leader in special education curriculum, has officially partnered with Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) to advance educational outcomes for students with moderate to severe disabilities. This collaboration serves a significant milestone in the district's aim to enhance special education services, directly impacting more than 780 students within its community of over 32,500 learners.

Dr. Gena Koster, the Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations at TPS, shared her enthusiasm about this alliance, highlighting the necessity for evidence-based resources to improve their special education programs. "When we initiated the process to revamp our special education approach, it was essential to identify curricula that are not only built on proven practices but also equip us with reliable data to monitor student progression. TeachTown has exceeded those requirements through its comprehensive, data-driven 'Whole Child Approach' spanning PreK to 12+."

The partnership will implement various programs geared toward addressing each student’s academic, behavioral, and adaptive needs:
  • - Launch for PreK: An all-encompassing early childhood curriculum catering specifically to special education students aged 3-5.
  • - enCORE: A standards-focused core curriculum designed to ensure equitable and inclusive access to the general education of the curriculum.
  • - Supporting Learning Interventions: Tailored learning interventions that go beyond the core instruction, addressing the adaptive, social, language, communication, and transition needs of students.

Richard Becker, CEO of TeachTown, expressed pride in collaborating with TPS, a district committed to continuous growth and equitable education. “Joining forces with TPS, which prioritizes improvement and fairness, is incredibly significant for us,” Becker stated. “Together, our programs can create measurable impacts that support students' academic success, independence, and readiness for future challenges. We are excited to be part of this journey.”

Dr. Koster emphasized the district's commitment to closing educational gaps for students with disabilities. “We are confident that our collaboration with TeachTown will establish a foundation for a student-centered, results-driven approach to our special education services,” she concluded.
