Geely Preface TCR Achieves Impressive Victory in France, Boosting Market Growth
Geely Preface TCR Secures Notable Victory in France
In a thrilling weekend at the renowned Circuit Paul Ricard, the Geely Preface TCR, developed by Geely Group Motorsport and Geely Cyan Racing, achieved remarkable success during the third round of the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour 2026. The event featured intense competition and showcased the exceptional performance of the Geely Preface TCR.
Despite the sweltering summer heat, the team illustrated the capabilities of the Geely Preface TCR. Local hero Yann Ehrlacher triumphed with a commendable second-place finish in Race 1, while Ma Qinghua and Santiago Urrutia collaborated to secure a double podium in Race 2. This impressive performance reinforces Geely’s strong presence in the competitive racing scene, while Santiago Urrutia continues to lead the overall standings.
The Geely Preface TCR is built on the same architecture as Geely’s road vehicles, delivering performance that translates into real value for daily driving experiences. This advanced design allows for a combination of competitive prowess and practical application, making the TCR version relevant not just on the track but also on the roads.
In June, Geely hosted an exclusive Discovery Tour for French dealers, culminating in cooperation agreements with 60 dealerships to establish a robust national sales and service network in collaboration with local distributors. This strategic move aims to bolster Geely’s position in the European market.
Additionally, the Geely Starray EM-i hybrid vehicle received the PHEV Award from Les Numériques, a respected French digital media outlet, solidifying Geely’s reputation within the hybrid vehicle sector. Responding to the demands of European consumers, Geely has introduced two flagship models—the fully electric E5 (Geely EX5) and the hybrid Starray EM-i—both awarded five-star safety ratings by Euro NCAP.
The company’s research and development teams located in Sweden and Germany are dedicated to calibrating chassis and propulsion systems specifically for the European market. Geely leverages a comprehensive R&D framework spanning China and Europe, continuously applying validated technologies from extreme track tests to mass-market passenger vehicles.
Geely operates a three-dimensional operating system that integrates global R&D, localized after-sales service, and region-specific marketing strategies. A recent delegation of French dealerships visited Geely’s intelligent manufacturing plants and thorough safety laboratories in China, strengthening mutual trust and collaboration.
With a strong portfolio of well-received products, network expansion, and sustained success in motorsport, European consumers have begun to reassess their perception of the brand. Geely is being recognized as a global automotive brand with distinct European engineering capabilities.
Looking ahead, Geely plans to maintain its involvement in the TCR series throughout the season while simultaneously expanding its European distribution network and fine-tuning regionally optimized vehicle technologies. This approach aims to further enhance the brand's competitiveness in the burgeoning European new energy vehicle market.
