Quiddity Engineering Welcomes Cristina De la Garza as Senior Project Manager
Quiddity Engineering is excited to announce the appointment of Cristina De la Garza, PE, as the Senior Project Manager in its rapidly expanding office in San Antonio, Texas. With her extensive experience in engineering—which spans over two decades—Cristina brings a wealth of knowledge in design, project management, and regulatory compliance within both public and private sectors.
Her previous roles have seen her gain considerable expertise in managing water and sewer pipeline projects, which includes both small and large diameter systems. Most recently, she was instrumental at the San Antonio Water System (SAWS), where she successfully directed vital sewer capacity projects mandated by consent decrees. Among these, the impressive 5-mile, 104-inch W-6 Tunnel Project around Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland stands out. Cristina's unique perspective, gained from her time on both the owner and engineering sides, ensures she maintains high standards across project timelines and budgets.
Before taking up her position at Quiddity Engineering, Cristina served as a Governmental Project Engineer at SAWS, where she collaborated effectively with various stakeholders and smaller municipalities. In this role, she oversaw, designed, and managed complex utility adjustment and replacement projects. Her remarkable tenure as SAWS Engineering Pipelines Manager entailed critically contributing to large-scale capital projects that focused on reducing sanitary sewer overflows and replacing water mains in alignment with the City’s water stewardship initiatives. Moreover, her previous experience at Quiddity (when it was known as Jones and Carter) as a Senior Project Engineer exemplifies her deep-rooted connection to the firm and its mission.
In her new capacity at Quiddity Engineering, Cristina is set to reinforce her commitment to the water and wastewater industry, fostering leadership and collaboration within the expanding communities the firm serves. The existing team is optimistic about her return, particularly because of San Antonio's burgeoning market. Steve G. Berckenhoff, PE, Senior Vice President of Public Sector Operations, expressed delight at Cristina's arrival, stating, "We're happy to welcome Cristina back to Quiddity. Her background and expertise bolster our capabilities in this crucial region."
Cristina holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University, and she is a registered Professional Engineer. Her strong educational background, coupled with her extensive professional experience, positions her as a vital asset to the Quiddity Engineering team.
