Exciting Design Opportunity for Architecture Students

The Nikken Academy, a leading organization in qualification support for architecture students, is thrilled to announce the 4th License Guidebook Cover Design Competition! This year’s contest invites architecture students currently enrolled in universities, junior colleges, technical schools, and high schools across Japan to submit their creative cover designs for the 2026 Edition of the License Guidebook.

About the License Guidebook

The License Guidebook is a complimentary resource provided to new professionals by Nikken Academy, filled with crucial information about obtaining qualifications required in the construction industry, such as architects, real estate agents, and construction management engineers. This invaluable guide discusses not only the benefits of certification but also details variable factors like yearly pass rates.

Each year, the guidebook sports a fresh design on its cover, crowning the artistic talents of students from all over the nation. As we enter the 2025 competition, we appeal to students to submit designs that resonate with the spirit of spring, new beginnings, and the excitement surrounding the job-hunting process.

Competition Overview

Eligibility

Architecture students currently enrolled as of June 2025 in:

• - Universities
• - Graduate schools
• - Junior colleges
• - Specialized schools
• - Technical high schools

Note: Participants can be from any region and only individual entries are accepted; group submissions are prohibited.

Awards

• - Grand Prize: 100,000 yen and inclusion of the design on the cover (1 award)
• - Judge’s Prize: 30,000 yen (3 awards)

Timeline

• - Submission Period: June 20, 2025 (Friday) to September 19, 2025 (Friday)

All submissions via registration must be completed by September 19 at 23:59.

• - Judging Period: Early October 2025
• - Announcement of Winners: Late October 2025

Submission Requirements

Proposals should be submitted in PDF format with A4 dimensions (210mm wide x 297mm tall). Each submission must include:
1. A PDF of the design (hand-drawn designs are not allowed)
2. A design title (within 30 characters)
3. A design concept (approximately 200 words)

Design Guidelines

1. The phrase “License Guidebook” must be prominently included within the design. There are no restrictions on font style or language used.
2. Ensure it is identifiable as the 2026 Edition.
3. No restrictions on overall color scheme or design style.
