Our Story Continues: A National Campaign for Reflection and Growth Ahead of America's 250th

Discovering Our Founding Principles: Our Story Continues

On September 3, 2025, the National Constitution Center, a key player in promoting constitutional education in the United States, launched an important campaign titled Our Story Continues. This initiative aims to rekindle the interest of Americans in the principles that underline the fabric of our nation. As the country approaches significant milestones—the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026 and the Constitution's 250th in 2037—the Center encourages Americans to dive deeper into their nation's history and engage with its ongoing narrative.

Our Story Continues represents a comprehensive effort reaching out to diverse communities across the nation, fostering discussions and reflections on democratic ideals, citizenship, and our collective future. The campaign is not merely retrospective; it challenges participants to consider how they can contribute to the next chapters of American history. Jeffrey Rosen, the Center's President and CEO, emphasizes that this moment should be viewed not just as a commemoration, but as a call to action for citizens to engage thoughtfully in the democratic process.

Significant Digital Resources

To kick off Our Story Continues, the Center introduces two groundbreaking digital tools designed to enhance the understanding of the nation's foundational documents:

1. The Interactive Declaration of Independence: This tool serves as a companion piece to the already popular Interactive Constitution. It provides access to essays from prominent scholars, biographical information about the signers, and a thoroughly annotated version of the Declaration itself by legal expert Akhil Reed Amar.

2. America at 250 Civic Toolkit: This online platform is set to empower various groups, including classrooms and community organizations. It offers an array of multimedia content and event resources aimed at celebrating the semiquincentennial and fostering engagement with America's founding principles.

During the decades-long commemoration leading up to the 250th anniversaries, the National Constitution Center aims to facilitate an environment where citizens can gather, share ideas, debate, and ultimately reconcile various viewpoints. The Center has established itself as a vital forum for people across the ideological spectrum, and Our Story Continues is poised to further enhance this mission.

Engaging with the Community

The National Constitution Center's Our Story Continues campaign will also feature numerous local and virtual events, allowing individuals to participate in discussions around historical and contemporary issues. The overarching goal is to demystify the Constitution and make its tenets accessible to everyone, thereby enhancing civic knowledge and participation.

For years, the Center has operated under the congressional mandate to disseminate information regarding the U.S. Constitution on a nonpartisan basis, increasing public awareness and understanding. As America gears up for these grand milestones, the Center is set to enrich its role further, instilling a sense of pride and responsibility in its mission.

A Celebration of Ideals and Futures

As we approach these significant anniversaries, Our Story Continues encourages not just reflection on what has come before but also an active engagement with what lies ahead. The Center invites all Americans to be a part of this dialogue, ensuring that the ideals of liberty and justice continue to resonate in both words and actions. By coming together to discuss our shared history, addressing past injustices, and envisioning a collective future, we can forge a united path forward.
