National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation Appoints Troy M. Bertram as New CEO for Growth and Inspiration
National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation Welcomes New Leadership
In an exciting development for the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation (NMOHMF), Troy M. Bertram has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer. This prestigious announcement comes after an extensive search aimed at filling the pivotal leadership role. Bertram, a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Army and former executive at Google Cloud, is set to spearhead the Foundation’s transformative initiatives, aimed at furthering its mission to inspire and educate.
Since its inauguration in March 2025, the Museum has made significant strides. So far, it has welcomed over 100,000 visitors and has reached more than 300,000 students across 12,000 schools through its educational outreach via the Griffin Institute. Notably, it has received accolades like the Best New Museum in America from USA Today, signifying its impact and recognition in the cultural landscape.
The core mission of the NMOHMF revolves around honoring the stories of Medal of Honor Recipients, a narrative that transcends the battlefield. The museum seeks to enlighten its visitors on the remarkable valor demonstrated by these few holders of the nation’s highest military honor—less than 4,000 of whom have received the Medal of Honor despite an estimated 40 million individuals having served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Through engaging exhibits that include interactive aspects and firsthand accounts, the foundation aims to emphasize values such as courage, sacrifice, integrity, and patriotism.
Troy M. Bertram comes with a wealth of experience amassed over 30 years in leadership positions across renowned organizations such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Dell Technologies. His deep understanding of strategic operations, marketing, large-scale transformation, and government procurement uniquely positions him to elevate the NMOHMF at a time when America could greatly benefit from the unifying values of the Medal of Honor.
Charlotte Jones, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, expressed her enthusiasm about Bertram’s appointment: _“Our mission is to inspire America through the stories of ordinary individuals who acted extraordinarily. Troy’s vast experience will help us expand our reach, allowing us to inspire even more people with the values exemplified by Medal of Honor Recipients.”_
Bertram himself expressed humility and excitement about this profound opportunity. _“I am honored to be part of a mission that holds so much significance. The teams here in Arlington have built something truly remarkable, and I look forward to developing our programming and welcoming more visitors,”_ he remarked.
The National Medal of Honor Museum is committed to ensuring that the legacies of these heroes are preserved for future generations. The Museum not only educates but also encourages individual contributions to community betterment. Jack Jacobs, a Medal of Honor Recipient and member of the NMOHMF Board, emphasized this ethos by stating, _“By sharing our stories, we aim to inspire others to make positive differences in their communities.”_
Bertram's journey to this pivotal role began as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army, serving as a communication officer with the 82nd Airborne Division. In addition to his military background, he has built significant expertise in the technology sector, overseeing major public sector initiatives and driving digital transformation in governmental and regulated industries at Google Cloud and AWS. His involvement in volunteer work and contributions to veterans' organizations underscore his commitment to giving back to those who have also served.
As the Foundation prepares to embark on this new chapter under Bertram's leadership, it anticipates exciting advancements ahead, including the eventual unveiling of a Monument in Washington, DC. This space will stand as a tribute to those whose selfless actions have safeguarded freedom and democracy, aligning with the NMOHMF's mission to inspire and unite communities through shared values derived from the Medal of Honor. As the Foundation looks to the future, supporters are encouraged to engage and participate in its mission of highlighting the extraordinary potential within every individual.
