Starting on July 23, 2026, DEAN & DELUCA will unveil its latest seasonal drink, the "Shine Muscat and Elderflower Frappe." This refreshing beverage is crafted using fresh, luxurious Shine Muscat grapes known for their distinct sweetness and juicy texture, making it an exceptional addition to the brand’s summer offerings.
The new frappe uniquely combines the seasonal Shine Muscat and Green Seedless grapes, offering patrons a delightful taste of these delectable fruits in a single cup. The elderflower syrup adds a floral dimension that enhances the natural sweetness of the muscat, while a hidden almond-flavored blancmange at the bottom of the cup provides a dessert-like satisfaction.
To add depth to the flavor profile, a subtle hint of matcha is included, echoing the delicate bitterness of the muscat's skin. This thoughtful combination not only captures the essence of the fresh fruit but also presents a well-rounded tasting experience that evolves with each sip.
Developer Insights
Yoshikawa from the Beverage Menu Development team shared insights into the creation process. “When we brainstormed how to express the deliciousness of seasonal fruits in a summer drink, selecting the Shine Muscat was a natural choice,” he explained. The biggest challenge was to maintain the delicate fragrance of the grape while constructing a cohesive drink. The elderflower was chosen not merely for its aroma but to amplify the charm of the Shine Muscat. The addition of matcha offers a hint of bitterness, while the blancmange adds a gentle richness, ensuring that the taste transforms progressively with every sip.
Yoshikawa hopes patrons will enjoy this carefully constructed beverage, experiencing the subtle changes in flavor from the very first sip to the last, allowing them to immerse themselves in the essence of the season.
Frappe Highlights
The Shine Muscat and Elderflower Frappe is priced at ¥896 (tax included) and lavishly incorporates Shine Muscat and Green Seedless grapes, along with spearmint and elderflower to create a stunning jade-colored frappe.
The refreshing sweetness is beautifully complemented by the fruity flavor of the muscat that fills the mouth, making it a perfect treat for summer.
