Launch of TOKYO Para Activity Notebook App to Support Para Sports Volunteers

TOKYO Para Activity Notebook App: Tracking Achievements Made Easy

On August 3, 2023, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government introduced a new application designed to facilitate the activities of para sports instructors and volunteers. This initiative comes as a continuation of the legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Games, marking five years since the event.

The TOKYO Para Activity Notebook app aims to enhance the encouragement and support for those involved in para sports. It allows users to effortlessly record and accumulate their activity achievements through their smartphones, enabling them not only to visualize their efforts but also to reflect on their experiences. This app serves as a document of evidence for the activities conducted by para sports instructors.

Key Features of the App

The new app is designed for para sports instructors recognized by the Japan Para Sports Association, including those at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The app's utility is further emphasized by its function as a proof of activity record for instructors wishing to advance their qualifications through the association.

1. User-Friendly Recording: The app's primary feature allows volunteers and para sports instructors to log their activities with ease. By scanning a QR code created by event organizers on the day of the event, users can automatically record details like date, time, and content of their activities. This eliminates the hassle of carrying physical notebooks and protects against the risk of loss.

2. Simplified Event Coordination: For event organizers, only the creation of a QR code is necessary. They can generate this code via a dedicated website by entering required details. As a result, the traditional need for written documentation during events is removed, reducing congestion at check-in and speeding up record-keeping processes.

3. Automated Tracking: The app automatically calculates the total time logged for each activity, providing an intuitive overview of an individual's total hours. Users can also set activity goals and track their progress seamlessly.

4. Versatile Use: The app takes on additional functionality as a diary, allowing users to jot down personal reflections and notes about each activity. This feature not only aids in recalling past experiences but also supports future goal-setting.

5. Earning Tokyo Points: The app collaborates with initiatives offering Tokyo Points. By scanning the relevant QR codes during eligible events, users can earn points directly within the app, though prior installation of the official Tokyo app is required for this feature.

6. Proof of Activity Records: Users can easily photograph and input activities from their physical proof of achievements into the app, maintaining the ability to use both the booklet and digital records concurrently. Moreover, records from the app can be exported as PDF files, suitable for submission as evidence during training sessions for intermediate and advanced instructors.

This project contributes to the '2050 Tokyo Strategy,' particularly in promoting sports engagement, outlined under Strategy 16: 'Thriving through Sports and Supporting Sports.'

Conclusion

The TOKYO Para Activity Notebook app is a noteworthy advancement in supporting para sports instructors and volunteers. By simplifying activity tracking and providing meaningful insights into individual contributions, this application not only memorializes personal achievements but also champions the importance of community involvement in inclusive sports.
