On November 25, 2025, Meijer unveiled the recipients of its prestigious Legacy Awards, a hallmark of recognition for team members who have made significant contributions to both the company and their communities. These awards spotlight exceptional individuals who embody the core values of Meijer, setting a standard for service, dedication, and leadership in the retail environment.
The Fred Meijer Award
The pinnacle of these honors is the Fred Meijer Award, given annually to a team member who reflects the humanitarian spirit that Fred Meijer championed throughout his life. This year’s recipient, Randy Lewis, the market director of Toledo, has been a pillar within the Meijer community for an impressive 38 years. His extensive experience and natural leadership qualities have positioned him as a mentor for numerous teammates across the organization.
Randy’s management journey is characterized by a hands-on approach; he has directly mentored 13 market directors over the last two years. His commitment to fostering emerging talent within the company is evident through his personalized training sessions and immersive store visits, which not only enhance skills but also build meaningful connections among team members. This impact resonates deeply, as his followers often praise his ability to inspire and cultivate their professional growth.
The Earl Holton President's Award
In addition to the Fred Meijer Award, Meijer also presented the Earl Holton President's Award to five outstanding team members. This award emphasizes leadership and innovation, recognizing individuals who have excelled in implementing strategic initiatives vital to the company’s success. The 2025 honorees include:
- - Kristin Brouwers, Visual Merchandising Director
- - Don Cress, Corporate Financial Systems Manager
- - Charles Lambus, Assistant Store Director
- - Mark Petrie, IT Business Relations Director
- - Carolyn Vallette, Store Director
Rick Keyes, Meijer’s President and CEO, expressed pride over these recognitions, particularly noting that the Legacy Awards are unique as the nominees come from their peers; this peer-nomination aspect underscores the significant influence these team members have had on those closest to them. He stated, “I’m especially proud of each team member honored today and thank them for their commitment to Meijer and to the many communities we serve across the Midwest.”
