Mitsubishi Motors Empowers Community with Vehicle Loan
In a significant initiative to promote environmental stewardship, Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has provided the Cumberland River Compact, a Nashville-based nonprofit, with a one-year loan of a 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). This partnership is part of MMNA's Community Utility Vehicle (CUV) Program, designed to support organizations making a positive impact in their local communities.
The Cumberland River Compact focuses on addressing the critical issues of water pollution, both in urban and rural settings, and aims to foster sustainable practices among residents. By offering educational programs and restoration efforts, the organization empowers individuals to actively engage in the stewardship of their watersheds. Mekayle Houghton, Executive Director of Cumberland River Compact, expressed gratitude towards MMNA, stating that the loan of the Outlander PHEV would play an essential role in their mission to maintain clean and healthy waters in Tennessee.
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV combines the practicality of an SUV with the efficiency of an electric vehicle, providing a fuel-efficient option for the Compact. With a spacious interior that accommodates up to seven passengers, this vehicle will enhance the organization's capability to organize activities and outreach programs focused on river health. It boasts an all-electric range of up to 38 miles and a total range of 420 miles on a full charge, highlighting its eco-friendly design.
Katherine Knight, MMNA's Senior Vice President and Chief Legal and Administrative Officer, emphasized the importance of this partnership, noting that the CUV program aims to address tangible community needs. The initiative reflects Mitsubishi Motors' commitment to fostering a sustainable society through localized efforts. The CUV program aligns with MMNA's broader corporate social responsibility strategy, “Driving Confidence – Driving Community,” which acknowledges that small contributions can lead to substantial community improvements.
Other partnerships under the CUV program include organizations like Tucker's House, the Community Resource Center, and the Charis Health Center, among others, all working towards community betterment in Tennessee. MMNA encourages the utilization of its vehicles for charitable purposes, enabling organizations to operate more efficiently while promoting awareness of environmental issues.
The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid not only supports Cumberland River Compact’s educational and restoration initiatives but also aligns with growing trends in consumer preferences for sustainable and efficient transportation options. As nonprofits across the nation strive to tackle environmental concerns, collaborations like this one serve as pivotal examples of how corporate citizenship can play a vital role in community enhancement.
