Subeca Secures $3 Million Funding to Transform Water Metering through Innovative Technology
Subeca Secures New Funding to Revolutionize Water Metering
CARY, N.C., October 12, 2026 – In a significant development for the water technology sector, Subeca has announced the successful acquisition of approximately $3 million in additional funding. This investment, being a part of their Series A-2 round, comes primarily from Burnt Island Ventures, one of the most active venture capitalists in the global water industry. Other contributing investors include Cycle H2O and SUEZ, along with several additional backers.
Subeca is on a mission to disrupt the water industry by delivering affordable smart metering hardware and software solutions. Anne Mushow, the company’s CEO, emphasized their focus on providing real-time data to small and medium-sized utility providers. "Plenty of companies talk about changing the water industry but we are doing it. Our solutions make access to sophisticated metering technology a reality for many utility providers who are currently facing obstacles due to high costs and outdated legacy systems," she stated.
The company targets the over 51,000 utilities and businesses in the United States that have historically been excluded from advanced metering technology due to financial and technical constraints. Utilizing a communication module produced in Cary, North Carolina, Subeca's devices leverage Amazon's Sidewalk network, a free connectivity solution that covers more than 90% of the population across the United States, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. This will help customers manage their water infrastructure more effectively and mitigate issues such as leaks more proactively.
According to Christine Boyle, a General Partner at Burnt Island Ventures, Subeca addresses a massive unmet need in the water sector, laying the groundwork for a billion-dollar opportunity. "We are continuously impressed with Anne and her team, along with their commitment to delivering smart water metering solutions universally," Boyle remarked.
The backing from Cycle H2O not only adds financial resources but also injects strategic value via extensive networks and industry relationships tailored to the water sector. “We’re thrilled to invest in Subeca as their platform addresses critical challenges in digital water management, making these solutions affordable for utilities of all sizes. Their technology helps in detecting leaks, conserving water, and reducing operational costs, aligning perfectly with our vision of supporting innovations that drive essential industries towards sustainable practices,” said Andrée-Lise Méthot, Cycle Capital’s founder.
Subeca's previous Series A funding round raised $6 million, with lead investments from SUEZ and additional contributions from Burnt Island Ventures and Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund. This new wave of capital serves to strengthen Subeca's ecosystem of strategic partnerships, helping design a robust framework for ongoing growth and innovation in the water technology market.
As the demand for smart metering technologies increases, Subeca is well-positioned to lead the charge in the revolution of affordable water management solutions, making advancements not only beneficial to utility companies but also positively impacting consumers and the environment at large.
